Dowse Lagoon is actually the 2nd of a 3 lagoon system at Sandgate / Deagon.
A revitalisation which took place in 2010 ( and included three new viewing shelters and 20 fauna boxes for birds and marsupials, weeding and revegetation and new and improved pathways, outdoor dining and play equipment) has made the area more accessible to the public, but it is still taking time for its bird habitat to regenerate.
