The Story Bridge (Brisbane)

Well known for being the “subject” of many iconic photos of Brisbane,The Story Bridge also makes a pretty good location for photos of the Brisbane Cityscape.

This spot provides a particularly good viewpoint of Brisbane city at night, but is suitable for photos pretty much any time of the day.  It is suitable for Landscapes, Cityscapes, Night photos (with spectacular city lights), and even architectural photos of the bridge itself and surrounding buildings.

The Story Bridge  is nearly 800 metres long, with pedestrian walkways along both sides, and there are plenty of different spots on the bridge that offer great views, so plan to walk the whole length to find different views and perspectives for your perfect shot.

The Western side is best for city views, but the eastern side can provide nice downstream shots (particularly at sunrise).

Bridge Climb

Story Bridge Adventure Climb offer guided tours up to the very top of the bridge at various times of the day (including sunset and evening). You are NOT able to take your own camera unfortunately, but this is an awesome way to get a stunning view of Brisbane

Tips:

  • Pathways on both sides are are popular with walkers, joggers  and cyclists – and it is often busy, so be aware of (and courteous to) others.  In particular, when using a tripod, be careful that you don’t get in the way of pedestrians and cyclists.
  • You are ONLY able to cross the bridge at either end … The easiest way is to walk to the northern (Fortitude Valley) end and follow the path down, under and up the other side.
