For those withunderwater-world an interest in the deep, but with no interest in diving in it, Underwater World is a fantastic little trip to test your shutter skills!

How to get there:

Located an hour north of Brisbane, it’s not too far for a few hours of watery fun. From Brisbane, take the Bruce Highway north and take the exit after the Ettamoogah pub. Then, follow the signs to Mooloolaba. From there, the way to Underwater World is clearly signed.

Facilities:

Fully air-conditioned, the place is easily wheelchair accessible. There are toilets at the venue, and a light cafe if you feel the need for a snack. It is also a 2 minute walk from the Mooloolaba Esplanade which has plenty of cafe style and fine dining options. There is ample car parking.

Location fees/costs:

A single visit will cost you $35 if you buy at the door, or buy online for a cheaper ticket. They also offer relatively cheap annual passes.

Best time:

The best time to arrive is about 45minutes after opening – the crowds have moved deep into the aquarium and you’ll find it a little quieter as you travel down into the deep heart of Underwater world.

Genres for this location:

Wildlife, aquatic photography. Family orientated if you have little ones.

Tips:

Take some munchies, and a bottle of water. Step off the travelator to take your photographs – turn off the flash! Be patient, and these creatures will give you ample opportunity for a great wildlife shot that can rival Steve Parish!
